I think that about sums it all up !
But fun was had by the three Graeme's and others.
2024 hostilities have commenced with a Thirds game between teams McOmish and Wyllie. It was a close run affair with a skips occasionally electing NOT to throw their final stones ! The final score was 7 - 6 to Team Wyllie.
At the half way mark the Peart squad lead the way after their two wins, they also have advantage of being 'ends' in hand too. One more good win could see Daniel secure the crown. The Wyllie squad will not however give up, so Daniel needs to continue looking in his rear view mirror. Its not yet all over for the McO Rink, who although they have lost both of their games, both being close run affairs, but they need to get their house in order soon.
Game on.
Like your presents, that's a wrap for 2023.
Hostilities resume on Monday 23rd January 2024 with the Thirds Competition.
I am delighted to advise that our New Stones Reserves have agreed to form a team for our SHOTS Competition, starting on 22 Feb through to the end of the season.
Rinks from the Trophy Competition will be redesignated using roman numerals:-
Team A - John Good will now be Team i
Team B - Julia Mackey will now be team ii
Team C - Graeme Maguire will now be Team iii
and Team iv will be formed by Zach Thompson from our new reserve members.
PLEASE AMEND YOUR DIARIES.
After surviving all the curling, Team Wood and Team Mackey were tied with only the 'guess the rock flavours' to mark. With both teams only getting one flavour (out of 5) correct, it was still a tie and because of the larger winning margin, Graeme duly awarded the 'new trophies' to Mike Wood, John McOmish, David McKey and Zach Thompson.
By popular demand the 'Pink Lady' was declared the best dress but notable mentions also go to one of the Barbies and The Blues Brothers.Despite constant interruptions from Penicuik Curling Club the day was rounded off with a very good Xmas Dinner from Paul and his crew.
David Wyllie and Dale Callander represented us at the Province Pairs.
In their first game they went down by a single shot to the five time winners Athelstaneford and then went on to beat Haddington, again by a single shot. Although they didnt progress it is good to know that they beat Haddington, the eventual winners of the Low Road.
Well played boys.
With a change of form The Good Squad go from top of the charts at the halfway point to close bottom at full time. Will we see a comeback from the lucky mustache ?
Anyway, Congratulations to Graeme Maguire, David Wyllie, Adam Hicks (periodically) and Pam Clark.
