4 Nations 2012

Another year, another 4 Nations.  Once again, I had a great time and helped the Scottish Men (officially this time) retain the Tom Ballantyne Trophy from the English.  With only the result from the eighth and final match to come England were beating Scotland by 5 shots however a 12-3 scoreline saw the result reversed to give a Scottish win by 4 shots.  I was privileged to play with a great skip and third combo, Hamish Lorrain-Smith and Alan Chalmers, both of (Musketeers) and we contributed a total of 16 shots up, over our two games, to the overall Scottish winning margin of +4.

Alan Chalmers, David Wright,  Graeme & Hamish Lorrain-Smith
Scotland also won the Connie Miller Trophy (Scot v England ladies) and the Marshall Millenium Trophy (Scot v Ireland)

Our rink also won the ECA Medal for the best Scottish rink, the second year in a row that I have won this.

ECC Bonspiel - Day 2

A big thank you must go to the willing reserves who stepped in to ensure a team on Sunday morning. George, Ross and Sandy joined original team member Liz to play against Pentland Ladies. Try as we might, there were no breaks coming our way. The ladies played a terrific game, drawing perfectly on many occasions, however we managed to hold them to 7-4 till the last end when they stole a 4 with their skips last shot.
We enjoyed the game and the spirit of the day.
A huge undertaking by ECC and great to have such representation on both days from Aberlady.
Well done to the Saturday team who will now play in the final on Saturday 18th February at Murrayfield.

ECC Bonspiel - Day 1

Well done to Mike Wood, Graeme Maguire, Cathy McLean and John Smaill for winning their section of the Bonspiel on Saturday.  A final score of 19 - 2, ensured the win and probable qualification through to the final later in the month.
The opponents were gracious in defeat and despite the scoreline, seemed to enjoy their day.
